Krulekht M. V. Competency building of master’s students in the profile of pedagogical management in educational innovation

(Moscow University for the Humanities)

Abstract ◊ The article considers the problem of improving the quality and modernizing educational technologies for higher education in the humanities, and in particular, the process of forming students’ professional competencies. The author describes technological approaches to defining the competencies required for the discipline of “Innovative activities in modern education”. The article takes stock of educational technologies and diagnostic tools which help track the success of building all groups of competences related to the “Educational management” profile.

Although the ideas of competence-based approach have been declared very actively, its introduction into pedagogical practice is slow. This explains the relevance of the research conducted by the author at the Higher School Department of Moscow University for the Humanities.

The article shows that the innovative way of development of modern national education is inextricably linked with the request for the formation of professional competence of an education manager with a master’s degree. We emphasize the master’s students’ understanding of the innovative nature of modernization of Russian education, and personal development to ensure the success of the innovation as key factors for competency building. All activities are focused on forming the undergraduates’ position as the subject of teaching and research activity, their overall capability to motivate action, use information technology and solving non-standard tasks. This also implies the capability to analyze the situation, to choose alternative ways of decision-making, evaluate risks, efficience and long-term effects.

Keywords: higher education in the humanities, master’s students, education manager, competence, competency, innovation in education.
