Tarnavskaya T. V. Didactic Principles of Learning and Teaching in the Context of the Adoption of Information Technology in a Research University

(The National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine)

Abstract ♦ The article describes the general didactic principles of learning and teaching in the context of the use of information technology in the educational process of a research university. The relevance of the study consists in the fact that the global informatization of all fields of human life and activity raises new problems in the context of higher education and leads to changes in the goals and content of education. It requires a continuous improvement that can be implemented by the adoption of information technology in education activities. The challenge of the enhancement of IT application efficiency by dint of a scientifically grounded combination of traditional and innovative modes of study is coming up year after year even in those fields where technical problems are successfully solved. The didactic principles, which determine the content of education, are improved in accordance with the historical features of the society’s development and the level of scientific and cultural development. Transformations in the society have an impact on pedagogical technologies.

The aim of the article is to determine the general didactic principles oriented to the training of a specialist in a research university in the context of IT application. The author considers the principles of the conformity of didactic process and didactic system with the consistent patterns of learning; visualization; conscience and activity; accessibility; scientific character; systematic character and coherence; the relation between theory and practice; durability in the acquirement of knowledge, skills and abilities; stimulation and motivation of a positive attitude to learning; problem character and promotion of the student’s independent activity.

The article implies not the substitution of traditional didactic principles with the new ones, but their specification and extension with such a content that would allow to use them effectively in new conditions. The mechanical application of traditional forms and methods in a new context or neglect of the didactic principles of training lead to the development of scientifically low-quality educational software.

Keywords: didactic principles, informatization, information technology, research university.
