Sitarov V. A. Pedagogical Management as a Theory and Practice of Supervising the Educational Process

Abstract ♦ The article studies the concept of pedagogical management, the point of which is to improve managerial culture in education.

In terms of managing educational systems, pedagogical management is the field of study which addresses the issues of management organization at teaching institutions.

Pedagogical management includes supervising the work of the faculty, individual educators’ and students’ activity. The main tasks of pedagogical management include setting goals, planning, supervising and coordinating processes, providing resources, ensuring high motivation, and analyzing the outcomes.

Management in education has its specifics, such as direct and personal involvement of all participants of the teaching process, the need for differentiation and individualization of teaching services, the dependence of the institution on consumer behavior, the difficulty of defining the parameters of education quality, and the demand for perfect consumer interaction skills.

The article also defines the role of the leader at a teaching institution, and states other skills (technical, human, educational, symbolic, cultural, etc.) leaders need to make the institution successful. To make the educational process comprehensive, the manager should combine different types of leadership, have experience of constructing a multifaceted educational environment, which provides ample conditions for students’ personality development and faculty’s capabilities.
