Lisovich I. I. Transformation of Cultural Memory and Scientific Knowledge in Early Modern Europe

Abstract ◊ The article aims to analyze various concepts of cultural memory in different epochs in Europe. The idea of „natural memory‟, an inherent gift of God and nature to preserve the history of the mankind and universe, dominated throughout the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. In the 17th century, Bacon’s inductive philosophy supported the dominance of the notion of memory as technology.
